Students from UConn's Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) to join COSEE-TEK for an Ocean Technology Institute

On April 13-14, 2012, COSEE-TEK will be hosting students from the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation for an Ocean Technology Institute at University of Connecticut - Avery Point. The institute will include an introduction to ocean technologies, discussion of ocean science careers and hands-on activities. The students will have the chance to build, test and apply low-cost, do-it-yourself (DIY) underwater hydrophones to compare noise levels from a number of sources. The will also have the opportunity to fly a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and learn more NURTEC’s ROV technologies. In addition, the students will have an opportunity to participate in an oceanographic monitoring cruise aboard Project Oceanology's R/V Envirolab II.
