Informal educators at Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk are currently participating in a COSEE-TEK run citizen science project to monitor water-born pesticides and marine invertebrate communities at their doc in the upper Norwalk Harbor. The buoy is equipped with an Onset HOBO temperature and light sensor, settling plates to measure seasonal recruitment of marine invertebrates, and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) sensors to passively sample organic contaminants. They have been collecting data from this buoy since November 2012 and posting their findings here on the COSEE-TEK website.
